Answered prayers....

Thank you so much again for all of your love and prayers for our boys....We were blessed to learn last Friday that our boys don't have Glaucoma. The babies' eye doctor in Danville personally made an appointment with the head of the Opthamology Dept. at Children's Hospital in Philadelphia...so we're thinking he knows a thing or or too...Dr. Mills is actually one of the leading "Pediatric Glaucoma" experts in the United States and he couldn't be more kind. Alexander & Evan actually have something called "Pseudo Glaucoma"...Again because they are "preemies"...their little eyes aren't as developed as they should be, and if looking on the inside of their eyes certain things "mimic" the idea of Glaucoma....but they will grow out of this by school-age. We all breathed a BIG sigh of relief and immediately said our thank you prayers.... again! The boys were so good....I couldn't have sat there for all of the eye poking they received. They loved the waiting area....lots of books and other children to play with! As usual they made friends with children much older then themselves and really had a great time. Thank you so much again for all of your love and support and Faith......I can't even imagine my life without any of those things..... Lots of love and prayers to you all.... The boys' Easter Day

Evan & Alexander had a wonderful Easter Day...The bunny was very good to them at all of the homes he visited and they really enjoyed church. Alexander (once again) donned his Rosary Beads in church and began to bless people going up for Communion by touching them with the cross on his Rosary! We don't really know where he got this from...but we don't discourage it either.. Perhaps we have a priest in the making! Hope you enjoy our photos as much as we enjoyed our day...xo

(The first photo is the babies finding their baskets (Evan on the right is already losing his kneesocks), The second shows Evan very happy to have found breakfast bars..how did the bunny know?, The third is Daddy and his boys singing "Happy Birthday" to Uncle Edward (Evan is on the left). ***Remember if you click on a photo..it gets larger***

How you know...you're an "old" Mommy

Evan & Alexander love to watch Mommy get ready each morning...combing her hair, putting on makeup etc....They like to reach up onto the sink & run away with her lipgloss, brushes etc... Today, Alexander reached up and grabbed Mommy's Capzasin cream (she uses for her back). Without thinking & as usual Mommy began to chase Alexander, he laughing like a madman....as Mommy began to say, "Hey Monkey...give me my 'arthritis cream'.....Monkey boy...Mommy wants her 'arthritis cream'....!" Suddenly it struck me exactly how funny this sounded out loud...Funny or sad....so I went with funny!!!

Let's not forget these....Happy Easter (again) !!

Easter 2006

Happy Easter!!

Happy Easter to all of Our Family and Friends~This year the boys realized how scary a large rabbit sitting on a throne can be and didn't seem to share Mommy and Daddy's enthusiam for the Easter photo...Mommy thought it was cute anyhow....Knowing Mommy she'll probaby drag it out each time the boys bring a date home...and she'll most likely show it to all of her new friends at the old-age home the boys send her too.....The photo (no matter how traumatized they look) only took 30 seconds at most. Afterwards back off the bunny land platform the boys were happy to wave at the "bundy"....from a safe distance....Hope the bunny is good to all of you!! Lots of love and prayers to you all.....xo

Prayers Needed

Dr. Wilson with boys..in 9/2005
Hello Everyone,

I'm posting this here, just in case I've missed someone...The boys are facing the possibility of Glaucoma, and as you can imagine Mommy & Daddy are very concerned (& scared!). The boys' eye doctor (at Janet Weis Children's Hospital in Danville) has been with them since they were days old...literally! He has been monitoring many things including their eye pressure....This should have gone down by now, but hasn't..which would indicate a diagnosis of Glaucoma. This is very rare in children, usually a geriatric problem, but theirs would be caused by long-term use of highly concentrated oxygen. Dr. Wilson himself called Will's eye hospital and Children's Hospital in Philadelphia to get them the soonest available appointment....The boys will be seen on April 20th at Children' Hospital, where they will sedate them and examine their eyes. Your prayers have gotten our monkeys thru so much so far...If you could pray for them again now. As you remember their whole lives could have gone in a different direction, but they are happy, healthy little boys who never stop! Thank you so much, Love and prayers....melissa, matt, evan & alex

Pearly whites...

Brushing our teeth is actually one of the things we like to do best...Especially Alexander...Mommy curbs his enthusiasm after 15 minutes or so and the poor guy cries because he just loves to brush those teeth! Evan is really enjoys brushing as well. (Photos: Evan facing forward, Alexander looks into mirror, and together...Evan (l) Alexander (r)....xoxoxo

Snowy Days...

This is what happens when two little boys (who have lots of energy) are trapped in their house.....Mommy laughs.... a lot! She also thinks about sitting in between two incubators (for 81 days) and wondering if her little babies would ever have "normal" lives....She's a very lucky Mommy!! Evan loves to climb...and Alexander follows right behind....In these photos..you'll find Evan climbing on their crib & standing on his head, the babies on top of the dinning room table, and the babies watching the children go to school, thru the front window.....If you're wondering where I am....it usually only takes them seconds to get wherever they feel they need to be....! xo xo

A Very "Mommy" Week...

Alexander and Evan

This was a good week....as always I really enjoy my boys....but I just felt like such "a mommy"....Sadly, one of the high points of this week...was when my "Swivel Sweeper" arrived...I almost knocked the UPS man over...excitedly explaining to him that I had been waiting for this to arrived...he looked...well, concerned or scared I really don't know....Here are some photos of my favorite monkey boys....xo

Alexander & Will

Mommy is having the best time watching her little boys grow each day...even though these days seems to be flying by....Even when they were only 2 lbs, they both had very big personalities...and very diferent temperments. It is so much fun to watch these personalities unfold and blossom. While the boys may look similar on the outside, anyone who knows them realizes their "insides" are very different. Alexander wakes up each day, eats breakfast, and then gets "right to work"....he'll reach up and grab a dishrag so he can "clean"....sweeps with his little broom and tends to his cats....(Evan observes all of this and runs away to play)...Alex fell in love with his kittens from the first time he laid eyes on them back in October, but now that he's a "bigger boy" and knows exactly what cats like.....Our poor cat "Will" goes along with all of it. Bella sees Alexander coming and tends to make herself scarce, not Will. He sees this toddler making a bee-line for him( usually with cat toy in hand) and just sits there. Alexander loves to carry this poor cat all over the house, brush him, hug and kiss him, and try to feed him...by putting the pieces of cat food directly into Will's mouth. Here are some photos of Alexander "loving" Will...

Interesting day to be a Mommy...

Today was an interesting day....Alexander has learned to say "No".....enough said...Evan, who's always two weeks behind with everything will get there I'm sure....Evan did a mischief to his brother, who came to me sobbing...and it was over in 30 seconds. (Sadly because they've had so many "mischiefs".....they both know exactly how to use an ice pack....by themselves.) After he was done with his "Winnie the Pooh" ice pack....Alexander was best friends with Evan again...Evan must have "apologized" because he brought his brother a "binky".....Then they happily ran off to play. They now speak in what I'm assuming is "twin language"...they always have...it's just now VERY fluent....It actually sort of sounds like Chinese?!? Or rather..people "plotting" again me, in Chinese. A few moments later, as I decided to change Evan's pants....Alexander came into the nursery, threw his hands up and said, "Aught oh!" Apparently something bad had happened, yet he had no idea how !?! I hadn't heard a crash...or crying so I couldn't imagine...I finished up with Evan and we all walked into the living room where I found...the curtains in our big front window sliding off of the curtain rod onto the floor....Well, I thought...this is something new. After this 30 minutes....yes all this happened in probably less than 30 minutes...I decided we ALL needed a nap. After lunch I decided to put together the babies' play tent....as I was tired of reading, singing, dancing and picking crayons up off of the kitchen floor...If you are ever feeling too good about yourself...buy a child's tent that comes with only 3 parts...(the actual tent and 2 very long poles) and try to put this together....I read the instructions....then I took the kittens out of the tent....then I flattened out the material as recommended by the manufactors...then I got the dogs off the material...then I referred back to the instructions...then I got the kittens and the dogs off the tent...as I tried to feed the poles thru the material, I knocked a few things over on our dinning room table ( in my defense the poles are about 4' long). I ran over to make sure I had not broken anything...and then took the babies off of the material...Finally everyone was put onto the OTHER side of the baby gate....I continued to struggle with this stupid tent...the boys ran for their drinks and blankets and make themselves comfortable watching....Then they must have gotten bored because they left for the nursery. I wasn't feeling toooo bad (physically) until I started with this tent..but by now....I could specifically feel each one of my various injuires (ache, throb, spasm, stab, burn etc.) It was all very dramatic....by now I'd had it.. I began to cry (for about a minute) because "what kind of mother am I if I can't even put a tent (that has 3 pieces) together for her children who survived death? Somehow my children would suffer because their mother couldn't do this one small thing....! After my 1 minute cry was over....I went into the nursery and sat down....Evan ran over to me with his blankie, Alexander put his BIG wooden Rosary around my neck and all was well. I was still loved and no one noticed my short-coming. Later on, Matthew had to remind me to remove this same Rosary before I went to the Giant.....There I conquered the war of the grocery bill~using my shopping savy (taught to me by my mother and using lots of coupons)....by spending $147.00 on groceries and only paying $95.00!!! In the cart contained all of the babies' favorite meals and snacks! I had proved my self worthy once again! At least in the world of grocery shopping... I was a goddess!....:)) I felt as though I was the cat's meow as I drove home...until I walked into the front door and heard two little munchkins calling "Mom!" I smiled to myself thinking, "I am the cat's meow"....to the two little people in this world who really matter.....:) xo

Soup is good food.....

From the top...Alexander..Evan...Alexander...and Evan

The boys were eating chicken soup for dinner...when Evan announced, "a hat" and put his soup bowl on his head....Alexander thought that was very funny and joined in the games....Of course Daddy ran for the video camera..while Mommy ran for the camera....Even more interesting was their hair after the broth sat in it for a few minutes! I guess chicken soup does posess wonderful powers! xo

Lost.....where are these babies?

Here is a photo of the boys last January 1st...I can't believe how quickly this year has past....It's difficult for me to see my baby boys growing up and taking baby steps each day towards their independence. But every day they teach me something new. As I am sort through their baby clothes, I hold them close to my heart. Time is passing too quickly. From my precious little ones in the NICU, small and fragile..to the toddlers they are today..thriving and healthy, I thank God for sending them to me everyday..and most days...I thank Him a few times! xo xo
